This 149-acre park, featuring the mostly forested and wild Susquehanna River hill country, is located on the southeastern edge of York County.
Acquired in 1969 and named in honor of the Apollo moon landing, it contains native rhododendron and laurel-covered valleys and forested slopes that drop down to the river’s edge. In addition to hiking the famous Mason-Dixon Trail that runs through the park, it’s a favorite of fishing, birdwatching and nature enthusiasts.
You might even see an eagle, like these lucky folks did while hiking through the park.
