
Mark N. Platts was appointed Executive Director of the Lancaster-York Heritage Region in February 2003 and President of the organization effective February 2004. Mark is a native of York County and relocated from Washington, DC to assume his responsibilities with the Region. He lives in a historic neighborhood in Manheim Township, Lancaster County with his wife and son.
Mark has 20 years of experience in public and private sector land use planning, community outreach and neighborhood revitalization. He has led planning programs and initiatives in Washington, DC, Orlando, Fl and Bainbridge Island, WA.
Before joining the Lancaster-York Heritage Region as its first Director, Mark was Principal Planner with Platts-Simons Community Design Partners in Washington. As an independent consultant, he provided land development and community planning services to public and private clients.
Mark is a graduate of York Suburban High School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban and Rural Studies from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Florida. His passions include old houses, historic towns and neighborhoods, and railroads.
